G. TONE QUESTIONNAIRES
1. What is the author's attitude towards actions or events ?
The author's main attitude toward event is one of almost no description. He does this to make sure that the actions done and the words spoken are as clear as possible for the reader to understand without ambiguiouty.
2. Is the story humorous or tragic or fightening ? Does the author want you to laugh or cry , to feel happy or sad, to experiences anger or fear ?
I believe that the story begins tragic and may even end tragic but the aim of the writer is to make reader understand the situations in his country and to understand that there still may be the possibility of freedom but ulimatly, he wants reader to feel anger at the situations of his country.
3. What is the author's attitude toward characters or the narrator ? Does the author like or dislike , trust or mistrust the characters or the narrator ?
The authors' attitude toward the character are not expressed as like or dislike, trust or mistrust at all. The author only asks the reader to understand the characters and the situations they face wtihout judgement.

D. POINT OF VIEW
1. What point of view does the story ?
The point of view of the story is told in second person but this may have been written in first person but writer decided not include himself in the story.
2. What are the advantages of chosen point of view ?
The advantages of writing in second person is that the writer can go outside facts and use more imaginations regarding events that happened.
3. Is the narrator reliable or unreliable ?
It is reliable because the narrator deals with an emotive point of time in his country's history and so, would have wanted to be as accurate as possible so as not to distort this history of his country.
4. Does the author use poin of view primarily to reveal or conceal ?
The author uses second person to concil some details at the end of the story but not unfairly and he uses this to let the reader imagine what happen to the two characters.

E. IMAGERY QUESTIONNAIRES
1. What scenes, moment , descriptive passages, phrases , or words stand out in your reading of the story ?
I think the most memorial seen which stand out for me happeneds at the end when we reads that the cranes flying in to the air which symbolizes the freedom of the two main characters.
2. Did a particular image make you feel happy, or frightened , or disturbed, or angry ? Why ?
The image of the cranes flying into the air at the end of the story made me feel happy because it resolved the conflict between two man.
3. Which of your five senses did this image appeal to ? What do you assosiate with this image, and why ? What do you think the author wants you to feel about a certain image ?
Image which would had been used most to describe this imagery would obviously be sight as no other scences were relevant or desribe in the story.
4. How do you think your reactions to the imagery in the story contribute to the overall meaning of the story ?
I don't think my reactions to the imagery in this story helped at all to the overall meaning of the story because the narrator discribes things clear enough without need outside intention.

F. SYMBOLISM QUESTIONNARIES
1. What are some of the symbols in the story ?
Symbols are the cigarette and chestnuts which are used to remind two man to theri happier past and cranes united the freedom of their past to the freedom of their present.
2. Are there any object which seem to have a symbolic meaning ? What are their meanings ? What are their meanings?
Cigarette and chestunuts. Which are used to remind their happier past , because songsam try not to smoke cigarette this is because he thougth it will remind his past and it might make him change his mind to not shoot his friend.
3. Do any people act as symbols in the story ? What do they represent ?
No, the people are not symbols
4. Do aspects of the story's setting seem symbolic ? In what way?
No, story setting is no symbolic
5. Is one symbol used throughout the story or do the symbols change ?
The only symbol use throughout is the crane which is used as a metaphor when it is trapped, like the Koran people, and when it is release, like the Korean peoples wish for freedom.

04 CHARACTERS
1. Who is/are the main characters in the story ?
-There are two main characters in this story, one is from North Korea, poor famer, and he is communist , call 'Tokchae' and the other is from South Korea, policeman , and his name is call 'Songsam a border police.
2. Describe the main character's situation.
-The main character Tokchae's situation is that before, he was living in unified country Korea but after civil war, he was move to North Korea , but now he is a poor farmer living with his family and he wants to move to South Korea for a better life. But he was caught by border police of South Korea which is his old friend Tokchae. Tokchae has to take him to some place to shot him as a illegal.
3. What are some of the chief characteristics (personality traits) of the character ?
-The chief characteristic of the main characters are Tokchae is a fatalist and also optimistic about his familiy's future. The other character is loyal and nationalistic but also pressis feelings about what made him nationalistic and these feeling turned to regret.
4. What sort of conflict is the character facing ? How is this conflict revealed? Is it resoled? If so, how?
-The police officer faces a conflict of interest between his duty to his country and friendship towards his friends, in the end, he sides with his friend.
5. Is ant character a developing character ? If so, is his change a large or small one ? Is it a plausible change for him? Is he sufficiently motivated? Is the change given sufficient time?
-The developing character is that of the policeman who turns from nationalism towards friendship and this change is seen very quickly

03 SETTING
1. Place: the geographical location of the story.
-The setting of the story is the 38th parallel between North and South Korea but takes place on the South Korean border.
2. Time: the period in history, the season of the year, the day of the month, and/or the hour of the day in which the event of the story occur.
-The story takes place after the civil war in Korea after 1953.
3. Social environment: the location of characters and events in a particular society and/or a particular social class (lower, middle, or upper class).
The social environment is between two classes, one a very poor communist farmer from the North Korea and one is South Korea who is the policemen and non-communist.
