Online Novel Portfolio : 09- Reflection post

The project has helped me to appreciate the book, The invaders in many different ways. One of the most useful part of this project that I think was how I had to review many different part of the book by using the different tasks which involved in the project. This review meant that I had to reread many different part of the book to understand these tasks, and because I had to reread, it meant that I could understand a lot more details about this story.

One of the most useful task in this project was when I had to write a timeline about events. Sequence of events in the story helps you to understand more about the plot and characters involved, and timeline in this story was very important because the events that happen were set on a specific timeline, for example the arrive of the soldier, the arrive of the santa-cruzinas and the erruption the volcano.

Lastly, the different type of task, for example summary and pictures and the advertising campaign made understanding story more interesting because I have to go out side of the book to find work related to the story, so all in all, this project had some very useful and interesting task which not only made me understanding the story in detail, but also enjoy the story a lot more.

Online Novel Portfolio : 07- Goals, Dreams

One of the most important character in the book was general Hernandez Vasquez Garcia, who was a respected military leader until he started a coup because he thought that the ruling government was too weak and needed to be change and Garcia couldn't wait until the next election. He began by bringing troops into the city and taking over important government position like the media, banking and policy. Soon, Garcia had control of the whole country. When he became head of the country, he wanted to become a dictator so he made himself the leader and began implenting his roles and orders. He was a very strong leader with a lot of ideas which is how to make the country improve.

One of the first thing he did was to try to expand his republic by taking over and controlling the island around his country. But unfortunately, government soldier were already there but he tried anyway. Another one of his goals was to improve his military. This he did because he thought that if he had a stronger military, then he would have a stronger country and that meant he could expand his border to other countries just like the other dictators have done. So, Garcia began trying to control people but the people did not like this and wanted the old government back so they began to protest. And soon , the old government began to be stronger and fight back. After a battle, the government one control and and he was killed.

Online Novel Portfolio : 03 - Summary (part 4)

Summary of "The Invaders" Part 4 (ch.16-last)

People began preparing to fight and the islanders join with the soldier and the Brigadier gets another messages that warship will come in the morning and people are not to resist. In the morning, soldiers arrived at the island and begin attacking houses and building and many soldiers come until they capture the people and take over the island.

The mother country begins to fly aircraft over the island to attack the rebel soldeirs. The rebel send ships of food to the island for the rebel soldiers. But mainland planes attacked the ships so the soldier will no have food.

People of the mainland begin to hear about what is happen on the island and they feel sorry for those people so they ask the government to help. The government chases out the dictator and kills him and then, they begin to attack the rebel soldiers more on island. And volcano begins to erupt. Everyone must leave the island and ships come to collect all the people as they are leaving the island in the ships, the volcano explodes.

The islanders given new homes on the mainland and the government takes control again. The islanders are happy with the mainland and new life there and Cyril has made many new friends.

Summary of "The Invaders" Part 3 (ch.12-15)

The islanders begin to have bad relations with the soldiers and the other new comers because they begin to change things in island and this upset the life of the islanders and the islanders begin not to trust them. Tilda and some friends try to take a boat to the mainland to see what is happening there but because of the bad condition of the sea, their boat is push back to the island.

As the invaders begin changing more about the islands, they notice that there are some cracks on the volcano so the Brigadier asked for someone to came from the mainland to look at it. But no one comes to check the volcano. Instead, mainland just send more food and supplies.

People on the islands begin to get into group to go against to the soldiers because they don't like being given orders by the soldier to do jobs and everyday, they begin to trust the soldier less and less. At the same time, tension are growing on the mainland as people there do not like the dictator and messages are sent to the island that there may be a war on the mainland.

They get the messages from the mainland that all people including the soldiers and the islanders must be evacuate to potato beach because the dictator may went to take over the island. The next day, Brigadier hears that a big ship will come to collect all of the people but the  islander and some of the soldiers don't want to leave. Also, the Brigadier hear that their will be three warships sent to the island.

Summary of "The Invaders" Part 2 (ch.7-ch.11)

People began getting use to Cyril because he was teaching them how to read and many of the girls in the island like him because he is clever and he looks different from other boys. But some of the boys are jelous of him because island girls should marry with island boys and also, they distrust his radioset, but Cyril tries to be friendler, he tries to learn more about their customs.

As the boys are playing with the radio, they change the channel to the radio station from the mainland and they hear a news. The news is about king and queen and many people on the mainland are angry about something. There will be trouble on the mailand. The nextday, a large ship is seen comming toward the island and island people getting worried.

The ship arrives the islands with many soldiers. One of them is Brigadier Culppepper, he is the leader of the soldiers. He comes to the island with lots of food and things that they need for servive. But people don't like him because he begins asking houses for him and his soldiers and he doesn't tell them how long he will be staying.

The Brigader tells Cyril that he must help hime take over the island and tell the people to accept this. Cyril is not happy , soon he listen his radio and hears that the mainland is now run by the dictatorship and that more people maybe comming to the island. When Cyril asked the Brigadier about this, the Brigadier takes the radio away from him. So, there is no way Cyril can find what happen or warn the island people.

Summary of "The Invaders" Part 1 (ch.1-ch.6)

All the islanders on the Halycon live a very simple life, they catching fish and seabirds and their egg and growing vegetables, they also trade with passing boats but they like to keep themselves to themselves, especially the mainland people who live 30 miles away from the island. They had this exsistance for 100 of years.

One day, one of the islanders become a man from a boy and they are planning special party for him. Also , he will get marry with a local girl. Many people are prepareing the special celebrations for them.

One this day, a mainland boy who called Cyril comes to the island with a radio set. He is welcome on the island but he thinks that everything is strange. He must adapt quickly, so he tries to learn about these people's customs. He lives wiht a families called Jonan's and for payment, he must teach them how to read and write because the island doesn't have a system of money.

When Cyril is there, he explain about his radio set and lets them listen to it. And one thisng they hear from the radio is that the mainland colony want to come to the island but they don't say why. The islandr feel suspicious about this, suddenly, they hear morse code. Many people think that it is the mainland people who want to come to the island to take it over....

The place has welcoming feeling. When we through the large flamboyant metal gate, the path goes into different direction. There is a map to choose which way to go. The map shows many different things in the park.
Near the big trees, many people lyedown under the shadow of the trees to escape from the sun and relax in the shade, and ohter people are spending their time gratuitously such as napping or chatting each other. Above the people, many little cute birds sing from the branches of the trees.

Following the path around, small children are plaing excitedly around the parktoys such as the see-saw, the climing frame and slide. Others are making castles or digging holes in the sand around the toys. Their mothers sit on the benches at edge watiching carefully their children and taliking with their friends.

Following the path to the left, we meet the big pond with it multifarious of feral animal life living in and around the water, turtles are comming out of the water to enjoy sunlight and in the water, many fish such as catfish are swimming close to the edge to get food from the people. The filtering machine pumps water into the air like a fountain and sunlight bounces of the water causing rainbow colors in the air.

All around the park are people who have come to play sports with their friends or exercise alone. In one courner, people play badminton, and throw frisbee to their dogs, while ohter people are uninterested in playing sports and more serious about exercising their body and all through out the park, there are people jogging in all different directrions. Hundreds of people of all different ages come to this place in thier free time.

One word describe myself

There are many different definitions which I could choose to describe myself, but I think the one which represent me best is ambiguous. The main reason I choose this definitions is because all the other ones do not explain myself as clearly as ambiguous.


I am ambiguous because I can be both lazy and hardworking at the same time. For example, I can be lazy to do something which I am not interested in, and on the other hands, I can put lots of work in job which  I like to do. In addition, I can be honest and straightforward with people but on the other hands, I also can being tricky and deceitful to get what I want from people. Furthermore, I would say that my future is also full of ambiguity. This is because I do not see clearly what I want to be, so this has a effect on not knowing what I want to study. This adds to my ambiguous personality.


In conclusion, I believe everyone has positive and negative definitions to describe their personality but I don't think I could find a better adjective which can describe so much about me than the adjective ambiguous can.
